Pricing

$5 to start. Never a cent more than you load.

Every request spends credits. You get 10,000 free every day, and you can load more in packs. There is no subscription and no bill afterwards: at zero, requests pause.

Questions

Can an AI agent run up my map bill?

No. Agents can set up keys and maps, and lower a key's cap, but they can never buy credits or raise a cap. Those are dashboard-only. When the balance reaches zero, requests pause with a 402 error and nothing more is charged.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Sign in with GitHub and you get 10,000 free credits every day. You only pay if you buy a pack.

What happens when my credits run out?

Requests return HTTP 402 with a message saying how to add credits, and nothing is billed. Maps and search start working again as soon as you load a pack, or the next day's free credits arrive at midnight UTC.

How far do the free credits go?

About 500 map views or 1,000 address lookups a day. A map view loads about 20 tiles at 1 credit each; a geocode costs 10 credits.

Is there a monthly subscription?

No. You buy a pack of $5, $20 or $50 when you need more, and that pack is also the most you can spend.

Do credits expire?

Credits from a pack expire 12 months after purchase. The free daily credits reset every day.

Can I use MapRouter in a commercial product?

Yes, including on the free tier. Keep the map attribution "© OpenStreetMap contributors" visible.

Can I store geocoding results?

Yes. Results come from OpenStreetMap under the ODbL, so you can keep them. If you publish a database built from them, the ODbL share-alike terms apply to that database.

Safety built in

Each key has its own daily and monthly cap, so one runaway app or leaked key can't drain your balance. Agents can lower caps but never raise them or buy credits.
